Голландские учёные построили необычного робота, движущегося без электронного управления — только за счёт воздушного потока. Основа конструкции — трубки, которые осциллируют и образуют «ноги».
Колебания возникают от изменения давления в изогнутых трубках и приводят к самоподдерживающемуся, асимметричному движению, напоминающему движения живых существ. Робот может бегать по суше, прыгать через препятствия и даже плыть — в воде его «лапы» переходят в антипазу, как у собаки.
Первая версия потребляла 85 Вт и была привязана к насосу. Уменьшив число конечностей до двух и оптимизировав конструкцию, учёные снизили потребление до 0.06 Вт на ногу, что позволило оснастить робота собственным насосом и батареей. At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. The S&P 500 fell 1.3% to 4,204.36, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.7% to 32,943.33. The Dow posted a fifth straight weekly loss — its longest losing streak since 2019. Channels are not fully encrypted, end-to-end. All communications on a Telegram channel can be seen by anyone on the channel and are also visible to Telegram. Telegram may be asked by a government to hand over the communications from a channel. Telegram has a history of standing up to Russian government requests for data, but how comfortable you are relying on that history to predict future behavior is up to you. Because Telegram has this data, it may also be stolen by hackers or leaked by an internal employee. WhatsApp, a rival messaging platform, introduced some measures to counter disinformation when Covid-19 was first sweeping the world.
