مهدی زارع استاد زمین‌شناسی اعلام کرده ساخت هتل در منطقه ولنجک واقع در شمال تهران ادامه دارد.
به گفته مهدی زارع «این هتل که روی پهنه گسله شمال تهران قرار دارد، بر اساس مجوز ساخت هتل ۳۰ طبقه در ولنجک تهران و با مصوبه غیرقانونی کمیسیون ماده ۵ در بهمن ۱۴۰۰ ساخته می‌شود.»
این استاد زمین‌شناسی تأکید کرده که «ساخت وسازهای بلندمرتبه در شمال تهران، به ویژه نزدیک گسل‌های فعال، شهر را در معرض فاجعه قرار می‌دهد.»
او همچنین گفته «تأیید چنین پروژه‌هایی به سایر سرمایه‌گذاران سیگنال می‌دهد که می‌توان قوانین را دور زد و در مناطق پرخطر ساخت‌وساز کرد. بی‌اعتمادی به مدیریت شهری افزایش می‌یابد، فجایعی مانند فروریزش پلاسکو و متروپول نمادهای ضعف نظارتی شهرداری‌ها در دهه اخیر بوده‌اند.»
