В Литве завершился второй тур парламентских выборов, где победила Литовская социал-демократическая партия, получившая 52 из 141 мест.
Социал-демократы укрепили свои позиции, выиграв 32 из 37 одномандатных округов, после 20 мандатов в первом туре. На втором месте оказались консерваторы из партии «Союз Отечества — Литовские христианские демократы» с 29 местами (10 из них во втором туре). Третью позицию заняла националистическая партия «Заря Немана» с 20 мандатами. В парламент прошли еще пять партий с количеством мест от одного до 14.
Несмотря на смену правящей коалиции, внешняя политика Литвы, особенно в отношении России, останется неизменной. Экс-кандидат в президенты Эдуардас Вайткус, поддерживавший сближение с Москвой, не прошел в Сейм, так как его партия не преодолела пятипроцентный барьер.
Новая партия «Заря Немана» под руководством Римигиюса Жемайтайтиса, ранее лишенного мандата за антисемитские высказывания, получила 20 мест в парламенте.
