منابع نزدیک به طالبان به آماج‌نیوز می‌گویند که با وجود گذشت نزدیک به چهار روز از برکنار مولوی عبدالکبیر از معاونیت رئیس‌الوزرای این گروه، او هنوز تأکید بر ماندن در این سمت دارد.
منابع می‌افزایند که این تغییر بدون مشوره با مولوی عبدالکبیر و سراج‌الدین حقانی صورت گرفته و به همین بخاطر، ذبیح‌الله مجاهد پیش‌تر از این سخنان پیش‌تر وی را در مورد «اطاعت از امر رهبر طالبان» نشر کرده بود.
