В уникальной бухте Песчаная на Байкале высадили 500 молодых лиственниц, 1400 сосен и 100 кедров.
Все саженцы – с закрытой корневой системой. Это были третьи посадки после сильнейшего пожара, который уничтожил здесь тайгу в 2015 году.
Всего работали 45 добровольцев. На склоне, где высаживали лес в первый раз, сейчас зеленеют сотни сосен и лиственниц. Восстанавливать тайгу необходимо, потому что утрата защитных функций ведет в ветровой и водной эрозии почв.
Бухта Песчаная – единственное место на Байкале, где среднегодовая температура выше нуля. Здесь растут знаменитые ходульные деревья, из-под корней которых ветра выдули почву. Бухта вдаётся в сушу на 400 метров, есть прекрасный песчаный пляж. Ширина входа в бухту между мысами Малый Колокольный и Большой Колокольный - 950 м. Одно из красивейших мест на Байкале.
