Согласно заявлению ведомства, обыски проводились «в рамках расследования по фактам саботажа, попытки саботажа при отягчающих обстоятельствах, содействия в враждебной деятельности иностранной организации или организации, подконтрольной иностранным структурам, а также мобилизации финансов для деятельности, направленной против конституционного строя и основ национальной безопасности Грузии».

In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Similarly, security researchers found a network of deepfake bots on the platform that were generating images of people submitted by users to create non-consensual imagery, some of which involved children. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements. In addition, Telegram now supports the use of third-party streaming tools like OBS Studio and XSplit to broadcast live video, allowing users to add overlays and multi-screen layouts for a more professional look.
