Юрий Абаев родился во Владикавказе в 1990 году. В 2012 году окончил Московское Высшее Военное Командное Училище. За выполнение боевых задач Юрий Абаев удостоен звания Героя России, также награжден орденом Мужества, медалью «За отвагу», медалью Суворова. С мая 2024 года является участником президентской программы «Время героев».
