В этот момент рядом с ней находился Манолис Пилавов. Спустя несколько секунд раздался взрыв, в результате которого Алёна и Манолис погибли. При этом, по словам источников, перед взрывом девушка разговаривала с кем-то по телефону.
Предварительно, девушка была использована втёмную. Сама она проживала в городе Брянка и, вероятнее всего, приехала в Луганск по заданию неизвестных. У Алёны осталось двое детей.
