27 декабря в мегаполисе открылась линия Airport Link (机场联络线), которая соединяет международные аэропорты Хунцяо и Пудун. Ее протяженность составляет около 70 км, время в пути — 40 минут.
Первые поезда будут отправляться с конечных станций в 6:00, а последние — в 22:00, интервал — 15 минут. Стоимость проезда — 4-26 юаней ($0,5-3,5).
После открытия общая протяженность линий метрополитена в Шанхае увеличится до 896 км. Всего насчитывается 21 линия и 517 станций.
Также 26 декабря на юго-востоке города открылся обновленный железнодорожный вокзал Шанхай Сунцзян (上海松江站, ранее Сунцзян Южный). Его расширение и модернизация были частью проекта высокоскоростной железной дороги Шанхай — Сучжоу — Хучжоу.
