Just finished my last tote for this week. Made from new and thrifted fabrics. The handles were hand woven by Kammi from https://www.group-telegram.com/bottletreefarm (thank you 🙏🏻).

Please consider throwing a few bucks to our very good friend to help get his truck running or access a new/used car as he's fallen on hard times. Please share around. 🤍

Decided to quickly make some wine bottle gift bags from these old, quilted placemats that I found at the thrift store.

Y’all have made Solkatt a bestseller yet again! In less than a week, wow. Thank you so much! The 2-2oz bottle deal is almost gone. I do this because so many of you love gifting a bottle away, which I absolutely adore. If you’re using for personal use only I highly recommend the 4oz bottles. Supplies are beginning to dwindle down. Grab yours before it’s too late. Thank you for another fabulous Solkatt Season.

Story Time:

This is a picture the first type of sewing machine that I ever used. I saw it advertised on late night TV and ordered it for about $30. I didn’t get around to using it until months later when a friend invited me to a Renaissance Fair.

I had never sewed anything in my life and decided that a renaissance dress would be my first project. I was 18 or 19 years old (early 90’s) and optimistic and ignorant.

I went out and purchased a pattern (a long, flowing skirt and a lace-up underbust bodice) and several yards of burgundy velvet. Ha. Velvet should not be the first fabric anyone tries to sew, but I didn’t know that.

I stayed up almost the entire night sewing these garments and I was so tired by the next day that I almost didn’t attend the fair. I used a sewing reference book to understand the pattern directions and techniques. We didn’t have YouTube, unfortunately.

When I remember this experience, the phrase “trial by fire” comes to mind. It was worth it, though. I learned a lot and gained a ton of confidence.

Another “Grandma’s Sofa” tote bag made entirely from thrifted fabrics. The floral print is from a 1970’s pillow cover.

I’ve had a lucky streak lately finding vintage fabrics.

Looking into doing a pre-order campaign for these two designs soon. React to this post only if you'd be interested in a t or tank. 😊

My husband and our son dug her grave. My daughter and I filled in the grave. That’s an important part of grieving. Burying your dead is part of the process.
