В этом году исполнилось 5 лет как АФК «Система» снесла историческое здание Таганской автоматической телефонной станции (АТС) на Покровском бульваре.
АТС проектировал Василий Сергеевич Мартынович. Строительство завершено в 1930-м. Это был образец промышленной архитектуры эпохи «будней великих строек».
Мосгорналедие отказалось наделять АТС охранным статусом на том основании, что фасады имеют подчеркнуто утилитарный характер, а ценных декоративных и архитектурно-художественных элементов здание не имеет. Были протесты, пикеты, попытки предотвратить уничтожение, но здание ушло в небытие.
На освободившемся месте «Система» возвела дом (апарт-отель) стилизованный под модернъ начала прошлого века. Стало на Покровском бульваре лучше или хуже — решать только вам! Геометка здесь.
