По данным Фройдинга, А-50, выполняющие функции, аналогичные натовским самолётам AWACS, уже не использовались ВВС России на момент удара.
Однако сейчас эти машины уже не подлежат восстановлению или использованию в качестве доноров запчастей: «Это серьёзная потеря, ведь таких самолётов существует всего несколько штук».
