"ابن عماد حنبلى" با اشاره به اينكه روز غدير را شيعيان عيد قرار داده بودند، از كارهايى كه اهل‌سنّت به عنوان مقابله مى‌كرد، ياد كرده و مى‌گويد: "آنها در برابر روز غدير "يوم الغار" را درست كردند. آنها روز غار را هشت روز پس از روز هيجدهم ذى‌حجه، يعنى در بيست و ششم ذى حجّة قرار داده و مدّعى شدند كه رسول خدا (صلی الله علیه و آله) در اين روز با ابوبكر در غار مخفى شده است." وى مى‌افزايد: اين جهل و غلط است. ايّام غار به يقين در ماه صفر و يا در اوّل ماه ربيع الاوّل بوده است». (شذرات الذهب، ج۳ ص۱۳۰) ابن‌جوزى نيز همين مطالب را با ذكر مقابلۀ اهل تسنّن در ايجاد يوم الغار تصريح كرده است.» (المنتظم، ج۱۴، ص۱۵)
