Он расположен в Ранчо-Мираж на участке площадью 250 га. Там будет почти 2 тыс. объектов недвижимости, включая жилье, отели, рестораны, торговые центры и многое другое. Также планируется стройка и второго района — Астерия — в Северной Каролине.

Жилые районы разрабатываются теми же подразделениями Disney, которые занимались проектированием Disneyland и Disney World. Архитектура Котино вдохновлена франшизой «Суперсемейка».
