π On October 13-14, 2025, in Manila, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of the Philippines organized a Conference dedicated to the Russian language.
π·πΊπ€π΅π The two-day event brought together more than 80 participants interested in the Russian language and culture.
π» The conference was addressed by H.E. Marat I. Pavlov, Ambassador of Russia to the Philippines, Hon. Celia Anna M. Feria, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Cultural Diplomacy of the DFA of the Philippines, Mme. Armi L. Garcia, Honorary Consul of Russia in Cebu, Ms. Zinaida Potapurchchenko, professor of the Russian Center in Cebu, and representatives of the βFilipinos in the Former Soviet Republicsβ association. The event was also attended by the leadership, faculty and students of the Universidad de Manila, Bulacan State University, New Era University, and other Philippine higher education institutions.
π¬ In his welcoming speech, H.E. Marat Pavlov noted that language is one of the enduring bridges of friendship between countries and expressed gratitude to all those who contribute to the popularization of the Russian culture and Russian language in the archipelago.
π¬ The conference's distinguished guest, Hon. Celia Feria, emphasized the central role of language as a tool for mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and the Philippines and the readiness to further expand the cultural ties between our countries.
π The event participants discussed modern approaches to teaching Russian in the Philippines, educational programs available to Filipinos in Russia, and the expansion of academic contacts between universities of the two countries.
π₯ The lecture prepared by Ms. Zinaida Potapurchenko about Alexander Pushkin, as well as the poems of the great Russian poet performed by Filipino students, were met with great interest. The audience also got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to his works and with the paintings by the Russian artist Ms. Marina Khankova "The Fabulous Code of the Russian Soul".
π€ The Embassy warmly thanks all the participants, lecturers and guests who took part in the first Conference dedicated to the Russian language, and intends to continue this tradition in the anniversary year for Russian-Philippine diplomatic relations in 2026.
