В последний момент, когда Дуда уже прибыл в Пенсильвания Трамп отказался от встречи, но выразил поддержку в своих соцсетях. Причина отказа исключительно политическая – существует неписаное правило, согласно которому президент Польши не должен вмешиваться в зарубежную избирательную кампанию, поддерживая одного из кандидатов.
Встреча с Трампом навредила бы польскому президенту, так и самому Трампу - встреча, безусловно, была бы воспринята поляками в США как жест Дуды в поддержку кампании Трампа. Именно поэтому Трамп отказал своему давнему другу во встрече.
