По версии следствия, военный в 2017 - 2019 годах подделал документы, на основании которых похитил трехкомнатную квартиру в Москве стоимостью не менее 20 млн рублей. На нее судом уже наложен арест.
Путин уволил генерал-полковника Барышева с должности заместителя главы Министерства по чрезвычайным ситуациям в мае 2021 года. На этот пост он был назначен 2 февраля 2017 года.
