At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. For example, WhatsApp restricted the number of times a user could forward something, and developed automated systems that detect and flag objectionable content.
