قال: أحمد الله على كل حال، وما تسأل عن حال رجل إذا هو أصبح ظن أنه لا يمسي، وإذا أمسى ظن أنه لا يصبح، إن الموت وذكره لم يدع لمؤمن فرحًا، وإن حق الله عزَّ وجلَّ في مال المسلم لم يدع له في ماله فضة ولا ذهبًا، وإن الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر لم يدع لمؤمن صديقًا، نأمر بالمعروف فيشتمون أعراضنا، ويجدون على ذلك من الفاسقين أعوانًا، حتى والله لقد قذفوني بالعظائم، وأيم الله لا أدع أن أقوم لله فيهم بحقه.
