For fifteen years, one of Europe's largest squats has existed in the heart of Athens.

The Community of Squatted Prosfygika, as a diverse mosaic built by people from the below, has hosted, housed, fed, and supported thousands of individuals. Its a self-organized project grounded in communal ownership, solidarity, mutual aid, and horizontality.

Over the years, numerous structures and infrastructures have been created based on the needs of the inhabitants and to address social problems caused by the state, capitalism, and the patriarchal system. For example a health structure, a bakery and a womens structure.

The Community participates in both local and international movements, while at the same time defending its ground daily against state and capitalist aggression.

Now after 15 years, there is the need to restorate and renovate the historic buildings.

Together with architects, engineers and many others it has been worked on a plan for the restoration of the Prosfygika buildings, which doesnt rely on state institutions but is based on solidarity and struggle.

A plan for the conservation and the restoration of a historic neighborhood which currently houses around 400 people - in contrast and opposition to the predatory plans of the state, which is only interested in exploiting the buildings for the profit of the well-known few and the dismantling of a community of resistance.

To make this restauration plan possible internationalist support is needed, therefore the #save prosfygika international campaign for the support and defence of prosfygika has been formed.

At the same time this internationalist campaign doesn't focus only on one-sided international solidarity but is also a way how networks of international solidarity can be strengthened and how we can exchange and learn from each other.

As a first step of this campaign, a delegation of Prosfygika is travelling through Central Europe to exchange experiences and ideas and connect our struggles on a deeper level.

Different kind of presentations and events will take place in various geographies, in order to present the initiative in more detail, discuss upon our common perspective and proceed to the next steps.

For this Prosfygika will visit Berlin!
