Приїхали ми пізно на ночліг, посідали у круга і сидимо, коли звенить. Дивимось, аж їдуть два на тих машинках, що на двох колесцах. Держаться руками за прави́ла, коло рук теліпаються білі широкі рукава, і десь звоночки бряжчать. Не знаю і що воно таке було, видно манея яка, або нечиста сила, та їде ж так скоро, тільки з морд у їх іскри сиплються. Проїхали вони крізь нас по траві, а тоді так прямо з кручі у Десну — і пошли по воді. Се я своїми очима бачив і так налякався, що Господи! Хоча се мені і не вперше приходиться бачить.
