After twenty years in the making, the Grand Egyptian Museum is finally opening its doors to the public
"Twenty years after work began, through suspensions and intermittent resumptions, announced and denied openings, “monumental” delays (as much as the ambitions of the project) amidst the Arab Spring, pandemic and political and financial instability, the Grand Egyptian Museum designed by Dublin-based Heneghan Peng Architects, in collaboration with Arup and Buro Happold for structures and systems is finally opening in its full state."

Addis House of Culture, in collaboration with Tinsae Tsegahun, is proud to host a special screening of Rasselas Lakew’s films #TheModernist and #TheAthlete. Join us on Nov. 15 & 16 as we screen these brilliant films at the historic AHOC space, located inside the #NationalPalace.
Rasselas Lakew is a Spain-based filmmaker. He co-directed his debut feature The Athlete (2009) with Davey Frankel, an internationally acclaimed movie in which he also played the role of Abebe Bikila. His film The Modernist (2022) explores how Emperor Haile Selassie and Henri Chomette’s vision built Ethiopia’s modern architecture. Screenings will be followed by a brief Q&A with the director.
