Курсируют слухи, что от «Новых людей» кандидатом в Президенты будет именно лидер партии Нечаев. Его выдвинут на съезде 24 декабря.
В логике Кремля Нечаев самый подходящий кандидат от этой партии. Другие известные претенденты мимо — Даванков слишком бойкий, Авксентьева же чересчур оппозиционная.
Сам Нечаев не особо горел желанием выдвигаться — долго взвешивал риски. С одной стороны, участие в главной федеральной кампании повысит статус как личного, так и партийного бренда, а также повысит лояльность власти к своему бизнесу. С другой стороны, блеклый результат на выборах может репутацию прилично подпортить.
