عملکرد سبیل گربه چیست؟ بینایی گربه ها به شدت وابسته به دیدن اجسام متحرک است. گربه ها معمولا به اجسام ساکن واکنش نشان نمی‌دهند ولی اجسام متحرک را با حساسیت بالا رویت می‌کنند. این خاصیت باعث می‌شود گربه نتواند بر روی اجسام نزدیک برای دیدن تمرکز کند. برای اجسام و طعمه های نزدیک تر از حدود ۳۰ سانتی متر، سبیل‌های گربه کاربرد دارند. هنگام شکار، سبیل‌های گربه به جلو خم می‌شوند و به محض برخورد با شکار با فرستادن سیگنال به مغز گربه باعث می‌شوند گربه شکار را به دام بیندازد. این سبیل‌های برای دریافت اطلاعات اطراف بدن گربه نیز به کار می‌روند و بر روی پیشانی و دست و پای گربه هم موجودند. به همین علت گربه ها برای گذشتن از فضاهای تنگ بسیار مهارت دارند! اما بر خلاف نظر عموم باعث تعادل نمی‌شوند و به حس تعادل ربطی ندارند!
