رسول خدا صلّی الله علیه وآله فرمود: هرکس سه روز سیزدهم، چهاردهم و پانزدهم ماه رجب را روزه بگیرد و شب های این روزها را به شب زنده داری بپردازد، از دنیا خارج نمی شود مگر با توبه نصوح، و به ازای هر روزی که روزه گرفته باشد هفتاد گناه کبیره وی آمرزیده می شود ؛ هفتاد حاجت وی در هنگام فزع اکبر، هفتاد حاجت وی در هنگام خروج از قبر، هفتاد حاجت وی در هنگام سنجش اعمال در موقف میزان، و هفتاد حاجت وی در موقف عبور از صراط برآورده خواهد شد.
