Точнее так: руководство Университета в одностороннем порядке аннулировало мой контракт на дистанционную работу, хотя основная моя педагогическая нагрузка - как раз на полностью дистанционной магистерской программе «Маркетинг-менеджмент». И хотя Управление персонала предложило мне иные заманчивые вакансии в НИУ ВШЭ: паспортист (35 тыс. руб./месяц), мойщик посуды (40 тыс. руб./месяц) и даже ведущий бухгалтер (80 тыс. руб./месяц), я не обнаружил у себя компетенций, достаточных для занятия столь интересных должностей (тем паче, что все они требовали опять-таки очной работы в Москве), а я уже три года живу за границей, откуда студентам все эти годы и преподавал. В этой ситуации единственное желание, которое я у себя обнаружил, было уволиться из Вышки. Я его и реализовал.

At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. The channel appears to be part of the broader information war that has developed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin has paid Russian TikTok influencers to push propaganda, according to a Vice News investigation, while ProPublica found that fake Russian fact check videos had been viewed over a million times on Telegram. At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. The gold standard of encryption, known as end-to-end encryption, where only the sender and person who receives the message are able to see it, is available on Telegram only when the Secret Chat function is enabled. Voice and video calls are also completely encrypted. In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation."
