Предмет был обнаружен на соединении цистерны и платформы на высоте 1,7 метра от земли. Сам вагон принадлежал московской компании и был приписан к Подмосковью.
Вагон был отцеплен от состава, после чего механизм устройства был разрушен с помощью гидроразрушителя. Части СВУ были отправлены на экспертизу. Следователи же возбудили уголовное дело по статье «Теракт».
