В общей сложности будет поставлено 327 миллионов киловатт-часов электроэнергии, заявку на которые Абхазия подала в Министерство энергетики России еще в октябре.
На данный момент в Абхазии наблюдаются регулярные отключения электричества, которые продолжаются по 11 часов в сутки, что, по словам временно исполняющего обязанности президента Бадры Гунба, ставит под угрозу жизнь и здоровье наиболее уязвимых групп населения, таких как дети, пожилые люди и социально незащищенные слои.
С возобновлением поставок из России, отключения будут продолжаться, но с меньшей продолжительностью — по 4 часа в день, дважды в сутки (днем и ночью).
