Much of the way modern school is structured is to crush childhood and curiosity as much as possible. Forced to do subjects you aren’t interested in to the point you hate them forever, unable to have time to pursue anything that truly interests you or you are being a bad student. Realistically, no child should be in formal schooling before 8 years old. Childhood is important and sets the foundation for the rest of your life. Will you allow your child’s foundation to be forced association, no outdoors, and performative “learning”? If you’re worried about a serious structured curriculum for a child under 5, you have been successfully propagandized.

My husband pointed out something interesting and I think it’s probably accurate. Parents who cling heavy to curriculum for really young children are terrified to make arbitrary mistakes with their children. Formal school is all they know. They’ve bought into the idea parents cannot organically teach. Reminder that your children are not dancing monkeys meant to perform for strangers with how young they know letters and random facts, they are small people with imagination and dreams. Your responsibility to young ones is to nurture, not impress strangers. Trust yourself and allow your children to be children. True love of learning blossoms from this.
