صَدّام حُسین عبدالمجید تِکریتی(۲۸ آوریل ۱۹۳۷ –۳۰ دسامبر ۲۰۰۶)در فاصلهٔ سال‌های ۱۹۷۹ تا ۲۰۰۳ رئیس‌جمهور عراق بود. وی یکی از اعضای برجستهٔ حزب بعث عراق محسوب می‌شد و نقشی کلیدی در کودتای سال۱۹۶۸ داشت که منجر به حکومت درازمدت حزب بعث شد. مبانی نظری این حزب بر پان‌عربیسم، نوسازی اقتصادی و سوسیالیسم استوار بود⛔️
وی پس از حملهٔ آمریکا و متحدانش به عراق در سال ۲۰۰۳ مقام خود را از دست داد. او در ۱۳ دسامبر ۲۰۰۳توسط نیروهای آمریکایی در حالی که خود را در یک زیرزمین در حیاط خانه ای در روستایی حوالی زادگاهش مخفی کرده بود دستگیر شد. صدام در دادگاه ویژهٔ جرائم سران عراق که توسط دولت موقت عراق تشکیل شد محاکمه و در تاریخ۵ نوامبر ۲۰۰۶به اعدام با چوبه دار محکوم شد و سرانجام در تاریخ ۳۰ دسامبر ۲۰۰۶مصادف با عید قربان در بغداد به دار آویخته شد🤷♂
