Во вторник на заседании кабинета американской администрации в Белом доме журналисты обратились к спецпосланнику президента США Стиву Уиткоффу с просьбой прокомментировать заявление Лаврова. Вместо Уиткоффа на заданный вопрос ответил сам Трамп.
"Стив мог бы ответить, но я могу также ответить. Неважно, что они говорят. Все позируют. Это все чушь", - сказал Трамп.
