Телеграм-канал без ссылки на источники утверждает, что поджог произошёл около семи утра 24 сентября недалеко от станции Крымская. Неизвестный поджег также один резервный аккумуляторный шкаф. Огонь быстро заметили, но поджигателю удалось скрыться.
Поджог повлиял на движение двух пассажирских поездов — «Адлер — Анапа» и «Петербург — Новороссийск» (они задержались на несколько минут).
