Моя точка зрения не меняется на протяжении десятилетий. Смертная казнь нужна, но не для того, чтобы убить, а чтобы прочертить ту черту, после которой тебя не будет, чтобы остановить тех, кого это может остановить.
Люди должны знать, что есть преступления, за которые они могут поплатиться своей жизнью, потому что мы видим, как воспитывается бесстрашие перед законом, а ещё можно сесть пожизненно и, в общем-то, нормально жить – и крабы, и шашлычок, если у тебя есть деньги, связи, влиятельные родственники. Причём человека никогда не оставляет надежда, что когда-нибудь что-то изменится и он выйдет.
