Про цей та інші аспекти скіфського життя ми можемо знати не тільки з писемних джерел від Геродота, про проведення безпосередньо обряду (Мельпомена, 70), або Лукіана Самосатського вже про саму сутність скіфської дружби (Токсарид, або Дружба, 44-55), але і з археологічних підтверджень - артефактів (частина з яких викрадена росією в різний час), знайдених у скіфських похованнях на території України.
