Во время официального визита в Узбекистан, министр иностранных дел России Сергей Лавров посетил мемориал «Скорбящая мать», где обратил внимание, что у Вечного огня нет надписи на русском языке. Памятные слова павшим воинам переведены только на английский язык. Надпись гласит: You are always in our heart, my dear (Ты всегда в нашем сердце, мой дорогой).
«Как к вам англичан занесло? Я смотрю, на английском надпись», — спросил Лавров.
«На всех языках тут, в принципе. Город туризма», — ответила экскурсовод.
«Ну русского не вижу <...> Мать — это самое святое», — отметил Лавров.

Later in April, he told TechCrunch that he had left Russia and had “no plans to go back,” saying that the nation was currently “incompatible with internet business at the moment.” He added later that he was looking for a country that matched his libertarian ideals to base his next startup.
