89 seconds to midnight, or, how to meaningfully spend time on the eve of the Third World War.

The Russo-Ukrainian war demonstrates the illusion of popular ideas about the strength of peace and the relentless advance of social progress. The risk of new Russian expansion into the EU has revealed the inability of old defense alliances to fulfill their stated role.
Even if the war does not directly affect European countries in the coming years, militarization will significantly affect state budgets, democratic freedoms, social policy, the influence of the right-wing, and the protection of private life. What does the experience of the war in Ukraine teach us?
What should anarchists and democratic leftists prepare for? What organizational forms are most resistant to social upheavals? We suggest talking about this with Ukrainian combatant & activist of the Social Movement Fedir Ustynov.

Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements. Stocks dropped on Friday afternoon, as gains made earlier in the day on hopes for diplomatic progress between Russia and Ukraine turned to losses. Technology stocks were hit particularly hard by higher bond yields. At this point, however, Durov had already been working on Telegram with his brother, and further planned a mobile-first social network with an explicit focus on anti-censorship. Later in April, he told TechCrunch that he had left Russia and had “no plans to go back,” saying that the nation was currently “incompatible with internet business at the moment.” He added later that he was looking for a country that matched his libertarian ideals to base his next startup. Telegram, which does little policing of its content, has also became a hub for Russian propaganda and misinformation. Many pro-Kremlin channels have become popular, alongside accounts of journalists and other independent observers. Markets continued to grapple with the economic and corporate earnings implications relating to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “We have a ton of uncertainty right now,” said Stephanie Link, chief investment strategist and portfolio manager at Hightower Advisors. “We’re dealing with a war, we’re dealing with inflation. We don’t know what it means to earnings.”
