В Южной Осетии прошли ежегодные памятные мероприятия, приуроченные к годовщине августовской войны 2008 года.
Руководство Южной Осетии, посол Российской Федерации в РЮО, замглавы правительства Северной Осетии, а также представители общественности посетили траурную церемонию в ночь с 7 на 8 августа. У мемориала "Защитникам Отечества" также представили выставку "08.08.08 - 08.08.25".

The War on Fakes channel has repeatedly attempted to push conspiracies that footage from Ukraine is somehow being falsified. One post on the channel from February 24 claimed without evidence that a widely viewed photo of a Ukrainian woman injured in an airstrike in the city of Chuhuiv was doctored and that the woman was seen in a different photo days later without injuries. The post, which has over 600,000 views, also baselessly claimed that the woman's blood was actually makeup or grape juice. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform. Messages are not fully encrypted by default. That means the company could, in theory, access the content of the messages, or be forced to hand over the data at the request of a government. WhatsApp, a rival messaging platform, introduced some measures to counter disinformation when Covid-19 was first sweeping the world.
