В настоящее время статус отходов от содержания зелёных насаждений в части включения их в разряд твёрдых коммунальных отходов (ТКО) является спорным. Различные ведомства придерживаются в этом вопросе противоположных позиций.
В Госдуму внесён законопроект от Башкортостана об окончательном отнесении отходов от содержания зелёных насаждений к твёрдым коммунальным отходам.
В случае его принятия:
