В ночь на 24 июня, в 01:20 колонна вагнеров во главе с "Девятым", двигающаяся уже в Москву по трассе в районе н.п. Казачьи Лагеря, столкнулась с подразделениями Росгвардии. При контакте росгвардейцы убежали, бросив оружие и несколько БТР. Колонна ЧВК двинулась дальше. Другая колонна вместе с "Первым" уже была на подходе к Ростову-на-Дону, который чуть позже был взят без единого выстрела.
