Рекомендуем почитать его эссе «Трофейное» и, конечно, посмотреть дублированную копию «Сердца королевы» (1940, в советском прокате 1948 года — «Дорога на эшафот») — фильма, опыт просмотра которого Бродским подарил нам второй из «20 сонетов к Марии Стюарт»:

Меч палача, как ты бы не сказала,
