В годы Великой Отечественной войны Валентина Кузовенкова была подростком. Их семья проводила на фронт отца и старшего брата Петра.

Валентина решила оставить школу, пойти в местный клуб и вместе со взрослыми собирать помощь для фронта. На протяжении четырех лет она вязала для бойцов варежки и носки. От постоянного вязания пальцы девочки были воспалены.

Отец и брат Валентины вернулись с войны израненные, но с орденами и медалями.

Валентина Ивановна Кузовенкова - сегодня уже прабабушка - тоже имеет награды. Живёт она в Самарской области, в городе Тольятти. А её дочь, внучка и правнук ею очень гордятся.
