Манґу, офіційно схвалену Nintendo, опублікували в 1987 році в Японії у журналі Shogaku Ninensei — виданні для другокласників. Її створили як навчальний комікс, аби пояснити малим геймерам, як проходити Zelda II для Famicom. На сторінках є все: закляття, боси, вибір шляху і трохи чарівного гумору 80-х.
Насправді, це щось середнє між манґою, мануалом і пригодницьким квестом у стилі choose your own adventure.
Головна мета — показати молодим гравцям, що Лінк може не тільки махати мечем, а й мислити та приймати рішення. Усе максимально просто (бо орієнтовано на дітей восьми років), зате в чарівній стилістиці ранніх ігор серії The Legend of Zelda: з картою, підземеллями, флейтами, храмами та Трифорсом.
P.S. У моєму дитинстві жодних мануалів, звісно, не було. Максимум — порада в піратській книжці з проходженнями. Тим цікавіше зараз подивитися, з якою любов’ю створювали офіційні допоміжні матеріали. Тож якщо ви збираєтесь у Zelda-марафон, ця манґа точно стане в пригоді й, можливо, допоможе відчути фантомну ностальгію за тим, чого у нас не було.
