ملی شدن صنعت نفت ازجمله تحولات مهم تاریخ معاصر ایران می باشد. هرچند در این جریان، نیروهای ملی و مذهبی در کنار یکدیگر به مبارزه با استبداد داخلی و استعمار خارجی برخاستند، اما تاکنون نقش ملی گراها در این نهضت، بیشتر مورد توجه قرار گرفته و به نقش علما در این نهضت کمتر اشاره شده است.
بر این اساس در این مقاله تلاش شده با توجه به منابع مکتوب با رویکرد تاریخی و با استفاده از روش توصیفی تحلیلی، ضمن بازخوانی نقش و جایگاه علما و مراجع در ملی شدن نفت، خاستگاه اندیشه های سیاسی آنان در جریان نهضت مورد بررسی قرار گیرد.
