💎امیرالمومنین عليه السلام فرمودند: أ لَستُم في مَساكِنِ مَن كانَ قَبلَكُم أطوَلَ أعماراً ، و أبقى آثاراً ، و أبعَدَ آمالاً ، و أعَدَّ عديداً ، و أكثَفَ (أكثَرَ) جُنوداً ؟! تَعَبَّـدُوا للدنيا أيَّ تَعبُّدٍ ، و آثَرُوها أيَّ إيثارٍ ، ثُمّ ظَعَنُوا عنها بغَيرِ زادٍ مُبلِّغٍ و لا ظَهرٍ قاطِعٍ .
آيا شما در جاى پيشينيان خود نيستيد كه عمرهايشان از شما درازتر بود و آثارشان پاينده تر و آرزوهايشان بيشتر و شمارشان فراوانتر و سپاهشان انبوهتر؟ دنيا را پرستيدند، آن هم چه پرستيدنى و آن را برگزيدند چه برگزيدنى! اما از اين دنيا بى هيچ توشه اى و بى هيچ مركبى كه آنها را به سر منزل مقصود رساند، كوچيدند.
