رئیس مرکز تحقیقات آلودگی هوا دانشگاه علوم پزشکی تهران اعلام کرد که سال گذشته حدود ۵۰ هزار مرگ در ایران به آلودگی هوا منتسب بوده است. این آمار معادل ۱۲ درصد از کل مرگ‌ومیرهای کشور است و نشان‌دهنده نقش جدی آلودگی هوا در سلامت عمومی است.
محمدصادق حسنوند با بیان این که آلودگی هوا مهم‌ترین خطر محیطی برای سلامت انسان است، گفت: «آلودگی هوا نه‌تنها سلامت مردم ایران بلکه سلامت جهان را به خطر می‌اندازد. بر اساس رتبه‌بندی‌های جهانی، این معضل یکی از چهار عامل اصلی خطر برای انسان شناخته می‌شود.» وی با اشاره به داده‌های جمع‌آوری‌شده از ایستگاه‌های پایش آلودگی هوا در سراسر کشور افزود: «در حالی که سالانه حدود ۴۵۰ هزار مرگ‌ومیر در کشور اتفاق می‌افتد، ۵۰ هزار مورد از آن‌ها به آلودگی هوا مربوط است که این رقم نشان‌دهنده نیاز فوری به اقدام برای کاهش آلاینده‌هاست.»

At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. For example, WhatsApp restricted the number of times a user could forward something, and developed automated systems that detect and flag objectionable content. That hurt tech stocks. For the past few weeks, the 10-year yield has traded between 1.72% and 2%, as traders moved into the bond for safety when Russia headlines were ugly—and out of it when headlines improved. Now, the yield is touching its pandemic-era high. If the yield breaks above that level, that could signal that it’s on a sustainable path higher. Higher long-dated bond yields make future profits less valuable—and many tech companies are valued on the basis of profits forecast for many years in the future. At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp.
