Новая история приурочена к 100-летию Международного детского центра и является продолжением полюбившегося многим фильма «Артек. Большое путешествие».
В центре сюжета подросток Митя Неверовский, который вместе с вожатым Птичкиным попадает в прошлое: сначала в 1925 год, а затем и в 1812-й. Во время путешествия он встречает своего предка, прославленного генерал-лейтенанта, делает ошибки и пытается всё исправить, чтобы не нарушить ход истории и вернуться домой.
