أصدرت المحكمة الجنائية المختصة حكماً بالإعدام بحق المجرمين سعدون صبري وهيثم عبد العزيز، بعد ثبوت تورطهما في إعدام المرجع الديني الشهيد السيد محمد باقر الصدر وشقيقته العلوية بنت الهدى عام ١٩٨٠، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذهما إعدامات طالت مجموعة من المواطنين الأبرياء وكذلك كوادر وأعضاء حزب الدعوة الإسلامية إبان النظام البائد.
