Эта сумма — половина кредита на $9 млрд, который США предоставили Украине в рамках дополнительного, одобренного в апреле пакета помощи в размере $60 млрд.
В Госдепартаменте считают, что списание долга «поможет Украине одержать победу, отвечает национальным интересам Соединенных Штатов и их партнеров по ЕС, G7+ и НАТО», говорится в письме.
