Подобные мероприятия практикуется орнитологами многих стран. Но японцы пошли дальше. В прошлом году они стали вешать на лебедей ошейниковые передатчики со встроенной фотокамерой, которая через определенный интервал присылает изображение окружающей обстановки.

Такими девайсами были оснащены 10 лебедей-кликунов и 10 малых тундровых лебедей, которые зимуют в Японии, а гнездятся в тундре.

Проект разработали известные в орнитологических кругах доктор Тетсуо Шимада и доктор Хироёши Хигучи и предоставили открытый доступ ко всем получаемым данным. Следить за этими лебедями и смотреть фотографии с их камер можно на сайте www.intelinkgo.com/swaneyes/. Там есть доступ к базе данных Ecotopia Web с бесплатным доступом к аккаунту (Аккаунт: SwanEyes Пароль: SwanEyes).
