В памятном мероприятии в Калининграде впервые принял участие временно исполняющий обязанности губернатора Алексей Беспрозванных. Вместе с ветеранами, представителями органов власти, военными, общественниками, школьниками и молодежью глава региона встретил 83-ю годовщину трагической даты на мемориальном комплексе 1200 гвардейцам.
В четыре утра собравшиеся почти три сотни человек почтили минутой молчания память павших героев. К Вечному огню и памятнику «Пограничникам всех поколений» были возложены цветы. Над братской могилой воинов 11-й гвардейской армии, погибших при штурме Кёнигсберга весной 1945 года, прозвучали стихи в исполнении школьников.
